There have been many rap artists over the years who have worked with rock musicians. Sometimes… Sometimes…

There are some gems out that anyone should listen to, from old favorites that opened the doors to newer tracks.

These are the ones I have saved you from the hassle of searching for them and wading through all the junk. These are only the best of the crop. There are many better underground tracks, but we only want the most well-known and famous.

Here are our Top 10 Rap & Rock Crossovers…

Have a look and you might find some new favorites that you didn’t know you had. Leave a comment to let us know what you think about this list. Some songs may not be included. Let us know if you feel they should be and we will include them in a special section.

10. BUSTA RHYMES AND OZZY OZZY OSBOURNE- THIS MEANS WAR

Although it’s borderline cheesy, this one deserves a place at number 10. Ozzy fans will recognize the Iron Man riff.

Busta Rhymes has a very good reputation. He’s done his fair share and earned street cred in the early days. But he still gets credit because even though he appears on some questionable tracks, it is always a great track.

9. EL-P & TRENT REZNOR – FLYENTOLOGY

El-P is an innovator in the rap world. He’s the founder of Definitive Jux Records and has helped to usher in a new era of backpacker Rap, innovative beat makers, and dozens of classic albums. Trent Reznor, the man behind Nine Inch Nails, collaborates on this track.

8. CHUCK D & PONIC YOUTH – KOOL THING

Sonic Youth are the alt-rock darlings. Chuck D is behind Public Enemy. Chuck D is the only artist to be on this list twice. Learn why…

7. JAY-Z & LINKIN PARKS – NUMB/ENCORE

Jay-Z and Linkin Park made a great mashup. But, what’s not to love about Jay-Z? Because it’s so epic, we’re giving special mention to the Jay-Z/Jimi Hendix mash-up. Jay and LP actually worked together so it deserves a spot on our list.

6. PUBLIC ENEMY AND ANTHRAX – BRING The NOISE

One of the most influential groups in both music and rap was another early crossover between rock & rap. One of the original crossovers between rock and rap is Anthrax, which is still producing music and touring.

5. DEL THA FUNKEE HMOSAPIEN GORILLAZ CLINT EASTWOOD

Although this could have easily been higher on our list, we wanted to make room for other artists. However, Del is holding the fort with two appearances in our top 5 this time in the group Deltron3030.

4. THE GZA AND THE BLACK KEYS — THE DROP I HOLD

This entry is a way to show some love for the Wu-Tang Camp. It features The Genius collaborating with one of the most popular rock bands today. Since then, the Wu-Tang Clan has had many collaborations.

3. BEASTIE BOYS-SABOTAGE

This is the only entry that only features one group. Did you know that the Beastie Boys began as a punk group? The Beastie Boys blend rock and rap in Sagotage seamlessly. Here’s another one that could easily make it to the top.

2. RUN RMC & AEROSMITH – WALK THIS WAY

This group is a pioneer in unifying these two highly polarized genres. Both were and remain absolute monsters with any music they touch.

1. DEL THA FUNKEE HOMOSAPIEN & DINOSAUR JA – MISSING LINK

Del’s second appearance on this Top 10 is the number one rap/rock crossover. Although not as well-known as Clint Eastwood’s, Del’s effortless flow through the Dinosaur Jr music is simply amazing.
